About ABG:

It all started back in 1977, when two entrepreneurial minded Gorajia brothers were seeking a business opportunity in Bujumbura, Burundi. The two brothers came upon a car dealership. With a hard working, determined, passionate and business minded personality, the two Gorajia brothers were able to create the dealership into an automotive power house, which till today stands as one of Burundi’s landmarks. Building on the success of the dealership, manufacturing brands nominated Akagera Motors S.A.R.L as the exclusive distributor for those respective brands for the territory of Rwanda in 1997. As more business ventures were added to the business portfolio, Akagera Motors S.A.R.L was transformed to Akagera Business Group LTD in 2008.

Akagera Business Group (ABG) was established in Kigali, Rwanda and diversified into nine different divisions dealing in automobiles, tires, batteries, lubricants, media, consumer goods, consumer electronics, car rentals, hardware, paints, design, construction, security and safety systems. Currently ABG has it’s presence in Burundi, Rwanda, South Sudan & Eastern Democratic Republic Of Congo . ABG has 250 plus employees, inclusive of approximately 20 plus expatriates of different nationalities throughout the nine divisions with ABG turnover reaching $50 Million in 2018.

ABG has qualified and professional front line managers and executives and a congenial professional work culture with a single objective of continuous growth, Kaizen. ABG uses a divisional led structure with a clear set of objectives and growth plans, while Division Managers are empowered independently handling delegation of work and bottom line results. ABG has become a household name in the Rwandan market place. ABG operates out of its own infrastructure built on nearly 30,000 M3 of built space comprising of office blocks, warehouses, customs bonded warehouses, yards and corporate houses.

Akagera Motors:

Established in 1997, Akagera Motors is the exclusive distributor for Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Kia, Fuso, MCV, Foton & Mahindra. Akagera Motors is responsible for revolutionizing the public transport sector of Rwanda by being the first to offer vehicle financial leasing for medium and large size buses.

Akagera Auto Zone:

Established in 2008, Akagera Auto Zone is the exclusive distributor for Chloride Exide batteries, Yana Tires, Yokohama tires, Maxtrek tires, Wanli tires, Motul lubricants, Shell lubricants and Motorol lubricants for Rwanda and Burundi.

Akagera Car Rentals:

Established in 2010, Akagera Car Rentals offers car rentals and fleet management services with GPS tracking of vehicles, maintenance of vehicles within the fleet and much more. Akagera Car Rentals pioneered the operational lease product for medium size vehicles for corporate clients in Rwanda.

Akagera Electronics:

Established in 2010, Akagera Electronics is the exclusive distributor for Samsung, Elekta, Sony and Beko brands product ranges and servicing of Consumer Electronics (CE), Digital Air Conditioning Systems (DAS) and Hand Held Phones (HHP) for Rwanda and Burundi. Akagera Electronics offers a range of products from televisions, phones, home appliances, air conditioning systems, information technology systems and business-to-business solutions.

Akagera Trading:

Established in 2008, Akagera Trading trades in approximately 3,000 plus SKU’s from various suppliers around the world, and importing its products from all East African Countries, United Kingdom, Belgium, South Africa, France, Egypt and Italy. It provides a wholesale distribution network for FMCG for major brands wanting to distribute in Rwanda, Burundi and Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.

Akagera Hardware & Paints:

Established in 2006, Akagera Hardware & Paints offers a one-stop solution for materials ranging from paints, tiles, construction chemicals, construction materials and sanitary products. Akagera Hardware & Paints is the exclusive distributor for Basco and Dura Coat Paints, Oman Cables, Hindware, Black & Decker, Stanley, Dewalt and Insumat in Rwanda and Burundi.

Akagera Media:

Established in 2008, Akagera Media offers advertising infrastructures in the form of digital space, billboards, wall frames, wall branding, and bus shelters all across Rwanda and Burundi in major cities and the interior countryside. Akagera Media also produces giveaway materials, events, vehicle branding, roadshows and corporate gifts.

Akagera Design & Construction:

Established in 2012, Akagera Design & Construction has the ability to design and build commercial, industrial, and residential properties in Rwanda and Burundi with strategic design partners based in Italy.

Projects under development:

  • AMAREMBO CITY CENTER: Mixed-use development in Kigali, Rwanda city center with nearly 91,000 M2 of built space.
  • KICIUKIRO GREEN SOLAR TOWERS: Apartment estate housing 7 towers of 10 stories each, which will be 60% sufficient on solar power renewable energy.
  • REBERO SOLAR VILLAGE: High-end luxury living housing estate comprising of 25 individual homes, which will be self sufficient in power consumption using the latest solar power technology.
  • BLUE TANGANYIKA COMPLEX: Mixed-use development in Bujumbura, Burundi city center with nearly 40,000 M2 of built space.
  • KIRIRI GARDEN HOTEL: 4 star hotel, 80% completed, in the Kiriri hills of Bujumbura.

Completed projects:

  • VIRAGO COMPLEX: 4,000 M2 office block completed in mid 2013, handed over to Burundi Revenue Authority (OBR) as their headquarter building in October 2013.

Established in 2014, Akagera Security & Safety Systems (AS&SS) is committed to equal or exceed standards that are demanded by the best companies in the business around Rwanda and Burundi. We believe in profitable, sustainable and enjoyable long-term relationships with our customers. AS&SS is a licensed and insured electronic contractor from England based in Rwanda and we are engaged in a wide range of services in the ELV (Extra Low Voltage) Systems. Our services include but are not limited to: wiring for new construction, remodels, security systems such as: fleet management tracking systems, alarm systems, fire alarm systems, access control systems, detectors, perimeter security, safety management security detectors and many more.
